How we began. The West Georgia Quilters Guild first met in October 1987 at the Carrollton Community Activities Center with Carol Kelley presiding.
The West Georgia Quilters Guild was formed in October 1987 by Carol Kelley, Tommie Ferguson, Betsy Scheufler, Brenda Kelley and Brenda's neighbor.
The Georgia State block was selected as a logo and is used in our name tags.
The purpose as described as described in 1987, is as follows:
We organized to bring people together with a common interest in quilting, to promote quilting as an art form and to recognize its place in our heritage.
We hope to educate and exchange knowledge about quilting by personal exchange, guest speakers and instructional programs.
To promote communication concerning quilting events locally, state-wide, and nationally.
We believe that by meeting together, we will gain personal fulfillment, encouragement and enthusiasm to grow as individuals and guild members.
